The FBI is investigating the Minneapolis Police Department after a man died while being placed under arrest.
A video taken by a witness shows a white officer sticking his knee into an unidentified black man's neck to pin him down to the ground, despite him repeatedly telling the officer that he couldn't breathe. While bystanders yelled for the officer to take his knee off his neck, the man stopped breathing and was later declared dead.
The police department initially said the man died as a result of a "medical incident," but that was before the video was released and went viral. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey commented on the graphic video and said, "I believe what I saw, and what I saw was wrong at every level.”
Police say officers were responding to a "forgery in progress" and that the victim resisted arrest. Two officers have since been "relieved of duty status." (WCCO-TV)
