Production for Season 3 of Euphoria has faced some challenges, and star Zendaya recently shared her views about the upcoming season in an interview with Vanity Fair. There have been rumors in the industry suggesting that Zendaya was causing delays for HBO. A report from Hollywood Reporter mentioned a source who claimed that her focus on her film career was slowing down the show. Zendaya responded by saying, "I’ve actually been available. I’ve been waiting." She noted that she hasn't been on set for almost two years. In the series, she plays Rue Bennett, a troubled teenager in a unique high school. When filming starts in January, she will reprise her role. Zendaya expressed her commitment to honoring the character, stating, “I’m here to do justice by the people who care about Rue.” There have also been rumors of tension between her and show creator Sam Levinson regarding the show's direction. Zendaya refuted this, saying she has been fortunate to work with supportive filmmakers who help shape ideas. Euphoria, which premiered in June 2019 and received great reviews, has not had a new episode since February 2022. The third season is set to include a time jump, with Zendaya and her co-stars, such as Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney, no longer playing high school students. Originally planned to start filming in 2024, HBO has now moved production to early 2025.
Since 2022, Zendaya's film career has expanded, as she starred in the Spider-Man and Dune films. She is also set to appear in upcoming movies, including The Drama and an untitled project with her boyfriend, Tom Holland. Additionally, she will be part of a film directed by Christopher Nolan set for 2026. The next Spider-Man film is set to start shooting next summer. Season 3 of Euphoria will not feature Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, as she announced her departure in August 2022. Keep it locked to 103.5 The Beat for more!
