Vince Staples is set to return for season two of his Netflix series.
On Thursday, May 30, the rapper-actor took to social media and announced "The Vince Staples Show" has been renewed for a second season. The series, which was created by Staples and TV veteran Kenya Burress, follows the Long Beach native as he guides fans through some of the most hilarious aspects of his daily life. His first TV show made its debut last year with five episodes — each more entertaining and witty than the last. He expressed his excitement about the next season in an exclusive statement to Netflix's Tudum.com.
“'The Vince Staples Show' is back!" he said. "The people have spoken and the most riveting, captivating, and polarizing show on Netflix is returning for Season 2. Get ready for hijinks that only a mother can love. Thank you, Netflix!”
Staples' transformation into an actor has been incredible to witness, especially for longtime fans. Prior to landing his own series, Staples had a recurring role on ABC's "Abbott Elementary," starred in the animated series "Lazor Wulf" and guest starred in HBO's "Insecure." He also appeared in Hulu's remake of White Men Can't Jump with Jack Harlow.
“There are 365 days in a year, so we’re able to have 365 episodes of this thing because they’re all based on what it’s like to just exist day-to-day,” Staples said of the second season. “Next for Vince is literally anything because anything could happen at any moment, that’s just how life works.”
Staples' show was renewed shortly after he delivered his sixth studio album Dark Times. The 13-track LP contains his lead single "Shame On The Devil" and other stand-out songs like "'Radio'" and "Little Homies."
As of this report, a release date for the second season has not been announced.
