Did you know that some farmers feed Skittles to their cows?

There was a mystery in Wisconsin this week.  Residents discovered thousands of red skittles spilled onto a highway.  After they investigated, they found out the Skittles were on their way to a farm where they were going to be fed to cows.  It was raining, the boxes got wet on the back of the truck making them fall apart, and the Skittles spilled out.

While the mystery of the Skittles highway was solved, I was surprised to find out that cows are being fed candy.

A former farmer told CNN affiliate WBAY that candy makers and bakeries often sell rejects to be used as cattle feed because they provide "cheap carbs."
