  • Things are going to get interesting.
  • There’s probably no time that would be a good time for Trump and this case.
  • It does seem a bit strange that it was scheduled during the primaries, but that might be when the court can squeeze it in.

Donald Trump is due in court on March 25th, 2024 to stand trial on criminal charges over the hush money payments he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. That falls during the Republican presidential primaries and is less that eight months before the general election.

Trump was on via video from his Florida home when the trail date was announced Tuesday in a Manhattan court. He was advised by the judge to cancel all his other business for the run of the trial, which could go for several weeks.

Trump was on mute for most of the approximately 15-minute-long hearing, but he later let his thoughts known on Truth Social, claiming his “first amendment rights, ‘freedom of speech’” had been “violated” by the scheduling of the trial “right in the middle of primary season.”

He added, “This is exactly what the Radical Left Democrats wanted.” He also claimed the case is “election interference.” (The Guardian)
