If you head over to Taylor Swift or Lorde's Instagram accounts, it's quite clear that these two pop titans absolutely adore one another. Still, that doesn't mean it's easy to carry a genuine friendship like that in the entertainment industry, and the Melodrama singer shared such frustration in a recent interview with The Guardian.
"It's like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together," the 20-year-old New Zealand star told the outlet. "Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease."
Of course, there is a reason that Lorde seeks companionship in the rich and famous. "It's an element of wanting to stick together. Because it can be so scary to do this," she explained. "These friendships, they’re about having a hand put on your shoulder by someone who knows. They’re about hearing, 'I've done it, too.'"
Lorde's mentality for her bond with Taylor is certainly understood even if the comparison to an autoimmune disease might be a little bit off-putting, at least to certain Swifties. Nonetheless, we can only imagine how hard it must be to stay close to someone and yet remain cautiously tight-lipped to not let certain things slip up during press rounds.
