South Carolina Teacher Suspended Over KKK Assignment

A South Carolina elementary school teacher is on administrative leave after giving fifth-grade students an assignment that asked them to imagine being members of the Ku Klux Klan following the Civil War.

WLTX-TV in Columbia reports students in a class at Oak Pointe Elementary in Lexington were asked questions if "you were a member of the KKK, why do you think your treatment of African-Americans is justified?" A second question is "you are a freed man. Are you satisfied with your new life?" The school district says it's taking the matter "very seriously."
